He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Thoele and Bertha Thoele (Meyer); his wife Constance "Connie" Bence; his granddaughter Christina Rose Griffith; and his sister Virginia Thies.
He is survived by: his daughters, Catherine Griffith (Tim) of Effingham and Susan Dutton (Jude) of Effingham; and his granddaughter Leah Griffith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
