With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Schimmelpfenning of Effingham, Illinois, born in Manito, Illinois, who passed away on December 27, 2022 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Sue Christine Henricksen; and his siblings, Arthur, Max, Frank, Bruce and Stella Lewis.
He is survived by: his sons, Jim and Scott (Amy); his grandchildren, Aaron (Casey), Adam (Amber), Alex (Megan), Justin (Christy) and Misty (Kevin); and his sisters, Wilma Gascoigne and Hazel Stansbury (Kenny). He is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Effingham or a local veteran's organization of the donor's choice.
