It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan S. Smith of Effingham, Illinois, born in Vermilion, Illinois, who passed away on September 28, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her foster parents, Dorothy Sturm and Walter Sturm; and her siblings, Harry "Rusty" Shouse and Martha Potter. She is survived by: her children, Dawn Fuelle (Mike), Amy Donsbach (Randy) and Sean Smith (Melinda); her grandchildren, Tabitha Burnett (Jeff), Sam Donsbach (Amelia), Mark Fuelle (Ruthy), Joanna Smith, Orien Smith and Jacob Taylor; her great grandchildren, Noah Rouwet, Oliver Taylor, Quinten Burnett and Bronson Burnett; and her siblings, Bobby Shouse, Glenda Vercellio, Donna Pearson and Carolyn Beuchler.
