He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald L. Sr. Rhodes and Clara Rhodes (Utz); and his siblings, Donald Rhodes and Evelyn Krone. He is survived by: his wife Alice K. Meyer of Effingham; his children, Bob Rhodes (Jernice) of Effingham, Brad Rhodes (Renee) of Kirkland and Lynn Kelly (Jon) of Bartlett, Illinois; his grandchildren, Maria, Jessica, Mike Rhodes, Allison Baker, Nick Rhodes, Addie, Morgan and Sydney Kelly; and his great grandchildren, Pedro, Alejandro and Lorelai.

Memorial donations may be given to St. Anthony Schools.
