With heavy hearts, we announce the death of George Robert Baker of Effingham, Illinois, born in Sigel, Illinois, who passed away on January 21, 2024 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucy DeBault and Paul Baker; and his wife Mary Catherine Althoff. He is survived by: his children, Georgina Baker, Debby Wagner, Russ Baker and Kent Baker (Lori); his grandchildren, Ryan Cornell (Stephaney), Matthew Cornell, Kelli Moon, Adam Moon (Diana), Danielle Wagner, Stacey Lewis, Stephaney Pinter (Garrett), Jesica Jones (Matt), Alissa McNicholas (John), Mary Gwen Baker and Madison Baker; and his close friend Nadine Steagell. He is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wetherell Place in Effingham, IL (payable to: Wetherell Place/CLO) in honor of George's grandson Matthew Cornell.
