He was predeceased by: his father George Cornell; his son Jesse; and his brother George Gregory "Greg" Cornell. He is survived by: his wife Lisa Weber; his sons, Matthew, Ryan (Stephanie), Justin (Holly), Joshua (Kelsey), Joseph and Gary "Jordy" (Maggie); his grandchildren, Colson, Alvie, Austyn, Keegan, Aspen, Finley, Wrigley, Sierra, Madison, Eva, Zach, Thomas, Autumn, Mary, George, James, Emma, Jesse, Guinevere and Clara; and his siblings, Mark Cornell (Anita), Jane Cornell (Kent Schmidt), Rita Arnold (James), James Cornell (Lorena), Angie Newbigging (Cameron) and Wayne Cornell (Julie). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
