He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Schaefer and Lillian Schaefer (Quirin); his wife Janice M. Osborne; his son Michael; his parents-in-law, Benjamin and Frona Osborne; his sisters, Marilyn Fournie and Dorothy Parke; and his brothers-in-law, Ben J. Osborne, Nick Ettelbrick, Paul Fournie and John Parke.
He is survived by: his children, Greg (Teresa) of Bennett, CO, Tracy (Cathy) of Casey, Tony (Jeni) of Chesapeake, VA, Scott (Michelle) of Sigel, Cynthia DePoister (Mike) of Effingham and Lisa Hobler (Ed) of Vandalia; and his close friend Norma Hoelscher. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart School in Effingham.
