He was predeceased by: his parents, Bertram O'Brien and Greta O'Brien (Tower); his son Scott; his siblings, Bill, Phyllis, Pat and Marion; and his pets, Barney, Mollie and Clancy.
He is survived by: his wife Marie O'Brien of Effingham; his daughter Beth O'Brien-Schmidt (David) of Effingham; and his grandchildren, Michael, Erica, Becky, Rachel, Rochelle, Chipman and Brianna. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
