With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ellen M. Bell of Effingham, Illinois, who passed away on November 23, 2024 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Ellen may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Erick L. Arthur and Olive Arthur (Hertzel); and her children, Dawn Applegate, Richard Applegate, Carol Applegate Stark and Kevin Neal.
She is survived by: her children, Linda Hieleman (Applegate) of Nashville, TN, Edward Neal (Gwen) of Effingham, Sharon Neal Butler of Grayville, Steven Neal of Olney and Michael Roberts of Troy. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
