He was predeceased by: his sister Debra Hutchison; his parents-in-law, Charles and Delores Van Horn; and his brothers-in-law, Steve and John Van Horn.
He is survived by: his parents, Donald F. Koester and Joan C. Koester (Willenborg) of Effingham; his wife Linda Koester of Effingham; his son Tyler Koester (Kelsey) of Effingham; his brothers, Greg Koester (Kim), Carl Koester (Deanna) and Alan Koester (Debbie); and his brothers-in-law, Harry Hutchison (Lynne) and Mike Van Horn. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 17th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral Home (1110 N 4th St, Effingham, IL 62401). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church (101 E Virginia Ave, Effingham, IL 62401).
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Effingham Retired Volunteer Firefighters Association, E.R.V.F.A. or the donor's choice.
