He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy L. Gowler and Opal Gowler (Highsmith); his siblings, Ronald Gowler and Janet Sager; and his sisters-in-law, Wanda Thiele and Sharon Gowler.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Gowler (Carr) of Effingham; his brother Larry Gowler (Carol) of Mt. Vernon; his children, James Gowler (Rebecca) of Arkansas and Leslie Endebrock (Rick) of Effingham; and his grandson Miles Endebrock of Effingham. He is also survived by numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.
