With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Bernard Jansen (Effingham, Illinois), who passed away on July 13, 2024 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Jansen and Eva Jansen (Funneman); his children, Don Jansen, Marcia Jansen and Brian Jansen; his siblings, Edward Jansen (Julie), Florence Schuette (Bob), Alice Hoene (Norbert), Louise Jansen, Virgil Jansen, Alma Steffen (Delbert), Charlie Jansen (Kathryn), John Jansen, Toby Jansen and Catherine Beckman; his grandson Will Schumacher; his great grandchildren, Grace Schorman and Arianna McNeal; his parents-in-law, Clem and Frances Niebrugge; and his siblings-in-law, Ruth and Louis Meinhart.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Jansen; his children, Tom Jansen (Cindy), Diane Westendorf (Jerry), Rose Westendorf (Larry), Ray Jansen (Jo Ann), Barb Probst (Dean), Tim Jansen (Angie), Pat Deters, Angie Overbeck (Kurt), Loretta Schumacher (Bob), Mary Mette, Dave Jansen (Angie) and Ben Jansen (Ann); and his siblings-in-law, Margaret Jansen, Judy Jansen, Mardell Jansen and Don Beckman. He is also survived by 42 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to HSHS Hospice Southern Illinois, St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, or to the family.
