It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Anne Bourgeois of Effingham, Illinois, born in Nashville, Tennessee, who passed away on June 26, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude Spence and Zenobia Spence (Westfall); her husband George Bourgeois; and her siblings, Catherine Bliss, Jeanne Derry, Mack Spence, Jack Spence and Lad Spence.
She is survived by: her great grandchild Anne; her children, Paul Bourgeois of Mahomet, John Bourgeois (Amber) of Collierville, TN and Lisa Schafer (Jon) of Effingham; her grandchildren, Micki Esker (Eric), Nicole Bourgeois, Sara Bourgeois, Doug Bourgeois, Dawson Schafer, Jaxson Bourgeois and Cooper Bourgeois; her great grandchildren, Mitch, Morgan Esker, Braydan Blankenship and Robby Shugart IV; her siblings, Sue Poe, Barb Murphy, Joan Gouchenouer, Terri Levingston (Ray) and Peter Spence (Deb); and her close friend Chitra Nayak. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family would appreciate that memorials be made to Sacred Heart School.
