He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Smith and Faye Smith (Murray). He is survived by: his sons, David W. (Linda Paup) and Darren R. (Jennifer Schrock); his grandchildren, Morgan, Brandon, Charlie and Parker; his stepgrandchildren, Alison and Jacob Bannister; and his brother Pete Smith (Janie).

Charitable donations for Bill may be made to Northwoods Community Church.
