He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Smith and Elsa Smith; and his sister Betty Jean Smith. He is survived by: his former wife Sandra Steele; his wife Sandra Smith of Farina, Illinois; his children, Shannon Smith (Tammy) of Farina, John Henry Smith (Alecia) of Farina, Jeremy Smith of Farina, Illinois and Mia Smith of Wapella, Illinois; his siblings, Clarence Eugene "Bud" Smith of Ballwin, John Terry Smith of Farina, Illinois and Joyce Appleton (David) of Fresno, California; and his grandchildren, Tabatha, Korren, Dylan Smith, Karrigan, Austin, Dylan Fulk, Matthew Halle, Colton, Callaway, Andrew and Abbigail.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to the Sonny Smith Athletic Scholarship at South Central High School or the donor's choice.
