He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Vinson and Ethel K. Vinson (Housman); his siblings, Vester Vinson and Janice Vinson; his sister-in-law Marie Vinson; and his uncles, Albert Lee, Jr. and Bruce Housman.

He is survived by: his children, John Vinson (Wilmary) of Florida, Chuck Vinson of Farina, Carrie Kistner of Ramsey and Kitty Johnson of Clay City; and his siblings, Thomas Vinson of Tennessee, Ricky Vinson (Faye) of Michigan, Freda Pringle of Michigan, Joyce Vinson of Tennessee and Karen Vinson of Michigan. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
