It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melvin L. Jeffords Jr. (Eddyville, Illinois), born in Paducah, Kentucky, who passed away on January 8, 2022, at the age of 61, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his grandson Kale Eugene Jeffords; his sister-in-law Donnette Jeffords; his grandparents, Virgil, Maudie Jeffords, Willis and Zella McCree; his parents-in-law, Eugene and Gloria Lay; and his close friend Ralph Deroche.
He is survived by: his father Melvin L. Jeffords, Sr.; his wife Patty Lay; his mother Nadine Jeffords, Sr. (McCree) of Brookport; his sons, Melvin L. Jeffords III (Rebecca) of Grantsburg and Aaron E. Jeffords (Shelby); his grandchildren, Kennadi Jean Jeffords, Kane Scott Jeffords, Brenna Jo Jeffords and Hunter Leah Jeffords; his siblings, Kelvin Jeffords, Sr. of Melber, Kentucky and Rhonda Quinn (John) of Tiline, Kentucky; and his sisters-in-law, Pam Sellers and Penni Hart (DeWayne). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
