He is survived by: his son Douglas Bates (Wanda); his sisters, Susan Shephard of Brownfield and Sharon Orlowski of Hollywood, FL; his grandson Joshua Rodriguez; his great grandchild Omar Rodriguez; and his nieces and nephews, Carla Rumsey (Ginger), Willis Edward Bates, Tana Sue Bates, Ginger LaCount and Brian Orlowski.
