He was predeceased by: his daughter Gail Cowen Wilkerson; and his brothers, James Prayer, John Phillip and Willie Smith. He is survived by: his wife Brenda B. Cowen; his sons, Brent McDaniel Cowen and Scott Anthony McDaniel Cowen (Gisela); his sister Pearltina Smith Farmer; his sister-in-law Arvelia Prayer; his grandchildren, Paula Wilkerson, Jordan Wilkerson, Brea Cowen and Brylah Cowen; and his great grandchildren, KaNiyah, Davion, London and Heaven Lacey.
