It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Akers of East Peoria, Illinois, born in Quincy, Illinois, who passed away on February 17, 2022, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin R. Akers and Ethel M. Frey Akers; and his wife Goldie Mae Launius. He is survived by: his sons, Todd Akers (Darlene) of Washington and David Akers of Florida; his grandchildren, Ryan Akers, Stephanie Lopez (Giovanni), Todd Akers Jr. and Brittany Volkmar (Aaron); his great grandchildren, Abram Lopez, Remi Lopez and Cylus; and his sisters, Pauline Hess and Lois Fessler (Don). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Averyville Baptist Church.
