He was predeceased by: his wife Keitha; his father Chuck Shurtz (Patricia); and his sister Charlotte. He is survived by: his sons, Scott Shurtz (Rhea) of Cedar Rapids, IA and Jeff Shurtz (Emily) of Corydon, IN; his grandchildren, Kris Alig (Dave) and Trish Shurtz; and his great grandchildren, Blake and Logan Alig.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
