He was predeceased by: his parents, William F. Mitchell and Evelyn Mitchell (Cook); his stepmother Eather Mitchell; his brother Kevin; and his son Todd Mitchell.
He is survived by: his wife Hortense Jimison; his children, Tia Payne (Jimmie), Tracy Edwards, Theresa Owens (Ron), Trina Mitchell, Trevor Mitchell and Makin Hamzah (Aasiyah); his grandchildren, Tiarra (Michael), Taylor, Perri, Morgan, Salahudin and Rukan; his great grandchildren, Aajon, Maite and Aaryah; his siblings, Patryce Taylor of Cahokia, IL, Karen Farley (James), Deidre Smith (Chris) and Clinton, MD; and his aunt Iola Harrington of Swansea, IL.
