He was predeceased by: his parents, Vincent Spillane and Alberta Spillane; his wife Rose Tranel; his son Dave; and his brothers, Bob "RJ", Jim, Barry and Joe.

He is survived by: his sons, Mike (Lori) of Galena, Greg (Susan) of Cary, IL and Brian (Becky) of East Dubuque; his grandchildren, Austin, Emily Pagura (Joe), Quinn, Cameron, Ellie and Allison; and his sisters, Rosemary Crawford, Jean Maxwell and Diane Holland (Ed).

The family kindly requests any donations be made in his honor to Hospice of Dubuque or the United Way of Dubuque Area Tri-States.
