He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Soat and Irene Soat; his sister Bertilla "Tillie"; his brother-in-law Jerry Westemeier; his brothers, Elmer and Merlin; his sister-in-law Marlene Soat; his parents-in-law, Alvin and Armella Banwarth; his sister-in-law Kay Banwarth; and his nieces, Anne Oeth, Mona Rowell and Judy Bingham.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Soat (Banwarth); his children, Mike Soat (Karin) of Fort Wayne, IN, Dan (Joe Rokusek) of Dubuque, IA, Renee Johll (BJ) of Peosta, IA and Amy Benson (Dan) of Galena, IL; his grandchildren, Meghan Soat (Mary Fox), Brandon Soat (Gwen), Elinor Barnwell (Tanner), Anna Johll, Sara, Sydney and Danielle Benson; his brother Victor Soat (Esther) of Menominee, IL; and his sister-in-law Helen Soat of Dubuque, IA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
