He was predeceased by: his parents, Julian Young and Margret Young (Hanley). He is survived by: his wife Debra Young (Higdon) of Dunlap; his daughter Wakeisha Young of Peoria; his grandchildren, Kalan, Broden and Teagan; his son Marshall Young of Galesburg; his mother-in-law Shirley Strasser of Pekin; and his cousins, Joy, Pamela and Valerie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The South Side Mission of Peoria.
