It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Thomas Helmer of Du Quoin, Illinois, who passed away at the age of 71, on August 18, 2023. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Helmer and Margaret Appino; his brother John Helmer; and his stepbrother Cecil Dorsey. He is survived by: his wife Debby; his children, Kendra (Kevin Rehman) of Kampala, Uganda, Matthew (Elizabeth Novak) of Poulsbo, Washington and Traci DeMarie (Merino) of Du Quoin; his grandchildren, Jaden, Khloe, Asa, Silas, Phoebe and Daphne; his siblings, Nancy and Dan of Du Quoin; and his stepsister Diane Fisher of Kentucky. He is also survived by nephews, nieces and aunts, and countless friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Perry County Humane Society of Illinois, the American Lung Association to support victims of Black Lung, or to the Vietnam Veterans Association to support Tom's family and friends who served and will be accepted at the funeral home.
