He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Hemmer and Catherine Hemmer (Schneider); his former spouse Shirley J. McMurray; and his sisters, Brenda Summers and Delores McCrary.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon K. Jennings (Feltmeyer); his daughters, Cindy Heisner (Jim) and Kelly Phillips (Danny Queen) of Pinckneyville; his stepchildren, Rhonda Knapp (Jeff) of Du Quoin, Michael Shane Jennings (Marci) of Imperial, MO and Wade Jennings (Chrissy) of Valier; his grandchildren, Kristen Martin (Justin) of Pinckneyville, Jimmy Heisner of Van Nuys, CA, Abram Phillips (Jessica) of Nashville and Christopher Phillips of Pinckneyville; his stepgrandchildren, Kelsie Williams of Miami, OK, Kirsten Gill of Pinckneyville, Brady Knapp of Du Quoin, Jessica Jennings of Arkansas, Zackary Jennings of Arkansas and Peyton Jennings of Valier; and his great grandchildren, Lance Martin, Callie Martin, Olivia Phillips and Madilynn Phillips. He is also survived by four step great grandchildren and one step great grandchild due in May, and several nieces and nephews.
