He was predeceased by: his parents, James H. Rice and Earlean A. Rice (Coleman); his sister Deborah Heine; and his nephew Darren Swayne. He is survived by: his wife Sherry L. Clark; his son Christopher Shelby of Colorado Springs, CO; his sister Sandra Gayle Swayne (Mike) of Du Quoin; his niece Danielle Swayne of Du Quoin; and his great-nieces, Bailey, Taylor and Kaiser.

Friends may make memorials to Perry County Humane Society or the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
