He was predeceased by: his grandfathers, Gary L. Race and Dean Patterson; and his great-grandparents, Betty Scruggs, Wyatt Scruggs and Willard Patterson.

He is survived by: his parents, Mike Patterson and Amy Patterson (Race); his wife Emily Born; his brothers, Ahusten Patterson of Du Quoin and Blake Patterson of Du Quoin; his grandmothers, Rita Dunmyer (Johnny) of Du Quoin and Cindy Patterson of Du Quoin; his great-grandparent Ruth Patterson of Du Quoin; his aunt Amanda Race (Mike) of Florida; his uncles, Chris Patterson (Beth) of Murphysboro and Jeff Patterson (Leah) of Murphysboro; and his great-aunt Kim Broski of Du Quoin. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
