It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Doris Mae Whitecotton of Du Quoin, Illinois, born in Murphysboro, Illinois, who passed away on July 15, 2021, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Austin Johnson and Nellie Johnson (Nance); her husband Jacob R. Whitecotton; her daughter Nell Rose Southard; and her brother Floyd Johnson.

She is survived by: her daughter Cindy Rae Adams of Carbondale; her son-in-law John Southard of New Baden; and her grandchildren, Katie Southard of New Baden and Jacob Henry Southard of New Baden.

Friends may make memorials to the Du Quoin Church of Christ or to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
