He was predeceased by: his parents, Duard E. Oxford and Ruby H. Oxford (Porter); his son John W. Stratemeyer; his grandparents, Edgar and Velma Kent; his brothers, Ronald Oxford and Roger Oxford; and his granddaughter Kaitlyn Caraker.

He is survived by: his wife Debbie Lynn Blackburn; his children, Thomas Donald Oxford and Christina L. Fred (David) of Du Quoin; his grandchildren, Maci D. Caraker of London, England, Layton C. Caraker of Du Quoin and Shaynna L. Caraker of Du Quoin; his great grandchild Colton Ellis Shearer; and his sisters, Gail Kook (David) of Chicago, IL, Ruth Swinford of London, KY and Marla Forst (Tim) of Topeka, KS..
