He was predeceased by: his parents, Dan B. Bowling and Berta Marie Bowling (Lohman); his siblings, Richard, Edward, Dale, Donald, David, John, Ouida, Marian, Patricia, Leora and Helen; his grandson Jimmy Pennington; and his stepdaughter Pamela Glasser.

He is survived by: his children, John Pennington (Jane) of Cincinnati, OH and Donna Taylor of Kentucky; his sisters-in-law, Margaret Tilley (Dan) of Du Quoin and Linda Whitman (Bill) of Du Quoin; and his sisters, Ora Carmichael (Mixon) of Lexington, KY and Judy of Lexington, KY. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren.
