He was predeceased by: his parents, James Patrick and Zethel Gooden (Morgan); his brothers, Tommy Gooden, James Gooden and Bill Gooden; his daughter-in-law Tina Gooden; and his grandson Nathon Morgan.

He is survived by: his former wife June A. Cashion; his wife Patricia Shaffer; his children, Myra Gossett (Tim) of Norris City, IL, Cheryl Williams (Brett) of Du Quoin, Bobbie Gooden, Jr. (Barb) of Dowell, Logan Gooden of Mattoon, IL, Eugene Gooden (Jennifer) of Benton, IL and Larry Gooden (Vickie) of De Soto, IL; his stepdaughters, Debbie and Donna; and his siblings, Charles Gooden (Martha) of Paxton, IL, Floyd Gooden (Ruth) of Carbondale, IL and Pat Eisenhauer (Bill) of Vergennes, IL. He is also survived by six grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
