She was predeceased by: her parents, Joe Emling and Louise P. Emling (Wendling); her children, Horace Gene, Janet and Rusty of Du Quoin; her sister Evelyn Schickedanz; her stepfather Alfred Malzahn; her nephew Bobby Hawkins; her great grandchild Ashton Smith; and her granddaughter Kelsie Johnsen.

She is survived by: her husband Horace Gene Sims; her children, Brenda of Du Quoin, Steve (Teri) of Du Quoin, Larry (Dianne) of Du Quoin, Jeff (Noel) of Fenton, MO, Don (Christina) of Du Quoin and Chuck (Deanne) of Nashville, TN; her stepchildren, Vicki Spencer (Dale), Jaci Gregory (Randy) and Tommy Joe Moss (Beth) of Sioux Falls, SD.; her daughter Jennah Smith; and her extended family, Hills, Bensons, Freds and Steeleys. She is also survived by 80 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, with one great-grandchild on the way, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish can donate to SH Church for masses, Du Quoin Gold Plate or Perry Co. Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
