She was predeceased by: her parents, Leroy Layton and Mildred Layton (Emmons); her husband Adron Lavelle Cook; and her siblings, Robert Leroy Layton, Michael Leroy Layton and Francis Pauline Coil (Layton).
She is survived by: her children, Marlene Knetzer (William) of Alton, Janette Wilburn (Bryan) of Alton, Cheryl Newberry (Randy) of Dow, Sarah Hankins (Aaron) of Rosewood Heights and Michael Cook (Karen) of Wood River; her grandchildren, Carol Heisse (Jeff), Paul Knetzer, Matthew Knetzer, Timothy Perry, Jonathan Newberry (Kiki), Nicholas Newberry, David Cook (Ariel), Kenneth Cook, Daniel Newberry, Kylinn Boyer, Samual Cook (Leah), Colton Boyer (Raegan), Katherine Cook and Parker Hankins; her great grandchildren, Jordan Hewitt (Haylee), Logan Heisse, William Knetzer, Audrey Newberry, Arthur Newberry and Jessie Bennett; her sister Sharon Grable (Phillip); and her sister-in-law Lavon Cook.
Because Carolyn has family members who suffer with SMA, she has requested that any memorials be given to "CURE SMA " (Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a rare and debilitating genetic condition that causes muscle weakness and wasting.
