He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Ost and Anna Ost (Smola); his sister Judith Kropidlowski; and his mother-in-law Florence Shultz. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Shultz of Dixon; his children, Kimberly Bradley (Michael) of Dixon, DeAnna Wilson (John) of Dixon and Todd Ost (Melissa) of Rochelle; his grandchildren, Caleb Bradley (Melissa), Kayla Fordham (Drew), Justin Wilson, Kaitlynn, Madison and Jacob Ost; his great grandchildren, Kellan and Landon Bradley; his brother-in-law Donald Kropidlowski; his nephew Michael Kropidlowski; his niece Rebecca Kropidlowski; and his great-nephew Ryan Kropidlowski.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Dixon, or Serenity Hospice & Home, in Oregon.
