We are sad to announce that on February 14, 2023, at the age of 71, Samuel J. Volkert of Dixon, Illinois, born in Freeport, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Volkert (Meyer) and Jack Volkert of Pecatonica, IL.. He is survived by: his wife Katharine L. Woods; his son Nicholas; his brothers, Tedd and Gordon; his uncle Gary Meyer (Lyn); his aunt Ida Dirksen; his siblings-in-law, Janet, Neil Cuthbertson, Dorin, Sherri Woods, Marcia Hutchison (Ed Reed), William and Adell Woods; his friends, Jack Ottoson and Lynn Moist; his favorite couple George; his uncles, Mernie Dirksen and Marv; his aunt Doris Clark; and his brothers, Rod, Scott and Norman Volkert. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family asks that memorials be made to places that were dear to Sam: St. John Lutheran Church in Pecatonica and the Pecatonica High School Band.
