With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Elva Toms of Dixon, Illinois, born in Polo, Illinois, who passed away on March 18, 2023 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Toms and Ada Toms (Piper); his former wife Lillian Toms; his children, Henry Toms, Ronald Allen Toms and Dorothy Sheridan; his granddaughters, Amie Toms and Chrissy Simmons; his siblings, Anna M. Lohman, Ruth Klingenberg, Marion Jarnigen, Howard Toms, Vernon Toms, Earl Toms, Donald Toms, Ross Toms and Marvin Toms; and his son-in-law Terry Simmons.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Knack-Toms of Dixon; and his children, Richard Toms of Dixon and Elaine Simmons of Peoria. He is also survived by great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Memphis, TN, in memory of Amie Toms, and the Masonic Temple #7, Dixon.
