He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Gilbert and Naomi Gilbert (Schell); his wife Dorothy Baughman; his daughter Susan Knott (Gilbert); and his siblings, Elwin Gilbert, Ronald Gilbert, Grant Gilbert, Lloyd Gilbert, Marian Zimmerman and Doris.
He is survived by: his son John Gilbert (Michelle) of Dixon; his granddaughter Kaci Johns (Nick) of Rockford; and his stepgrandchildren, Mike and Pat Bothe of Dixon.
Memorials may be given in his memory to Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon or Heritage Square in Dixon.
