She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Glen, Sr. Hadaway and Helen Hadaway (Rhines); her husband John Gerdes; her children, Melody Brand (Mark) and Doug Krone (Kathleen); her brothers, Sherman Hadaway of Prophetstown, Glen, Jr. Hadaway (Karen) of Mt. Morris and Terry Hadaway (Judy) of Rock Falls; and her grandchildren, Tina Gabriel (Jonathan), Kristen Ferguson, Shawna Ferguson, Andrew Brand, Jay Hadaway (Tiffany), Mandy Dore' (Steven), Amanda Franco (Raegan) of Sabrina Neel, JC, Cody Harris (April), Cameron Smith and Tyler Krone (Courtney). She was also cherished by 26 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Granny Rose Animal Shelter in Dixon.
