It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Robert Bess Sr. of Divernon, Illinois, born in Patterson, Illinois, who passed away on June 21, 2023, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, R. S. "Doc" Bess and Hazel Carmean Bess. He is survived by: his wife Sara Fraley; his children, Bobette Vansel (Terry), Terrol Ulery (Bill), Toni Nutgrass (Mark), Tracy Savage (Shiloh), Melanie Rueter (Jay), J. R. Bess (Lora) and Colleen Evans; and his grandson Jason Stone. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson.

Memorials may be made to the Divernon American Legion.
