He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar W. Boerngen and Laura F. Boerngen (Wendling); his wife Helen J. Miller; his children, Penny and Doug; his son-in-law Donnie Blair; his brother Dave Boerngen; and his grandson Cody Blair.
He is survived by: his daughter Tonya Blair; his daughter-in-law Tamara Root (John); his grandchildren, Corey Blair (Mikayla), Ashley Blair (Tony Button), Kelsey Koester (Tyler) and Madison Jones (Paul); his great grandchildren, JJ, Cooper, Gwenny, Baby Koester and Baby Jones; his sisters, Jane Tolch (Lyle) and Kay Boerngen; and his caregiver Carol Bohnhoff.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral Home (1110 N 4th St, Effingham, IL 62401). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 at the Woodlawn Cemetery (15734 IL-33, Effingham, IL 62401).
