It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerald Leroy Pontious of Dieterich, Illinois, born in Watson, Illinois, who passed away on August 15, 2020, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Pontious and ReEllen Pontious (Macklin); and his siblings, Robert Pontious, Kenneth Pontious (Ruby), Ralph Pontious (Lucille), Donald Pontious (Emmaline), Jessie Roach (Bud), Alta Loy (Glen) and Evelyn Verkruysse (Kenneth).
He is survived by: his wife Mary Louise Simpson; his children, John (Dee), David (Debbie) and Ruth Bray (Fred); his grandchildren, Cherity McGee (Dylan), Jonathan Pontious (Stephanie), Holly Bray, Kristen Park (Jason), Chelsea Hoopingarner (Josh), Lindsey Flowers (Damon), Savannah Pontious, Heather Pontious and Tanner Pontious; his siblings, Adrian "Gene" Pontious, Norman "Larry" Pontious (Gayle) and Wilma Koss (Bob); and his sisters-in-law, Ina Denton and Maxine Pontious. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Winterrowd Christian Church or Saddle Mountain Christian Mission.
