He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Schimka Sr. and Gertrude Schimka; his daughter Deborah Cook (Raymond); and his brother Carl Schimka Jr. (Jan). He is survived by: his wife Joanne Schimka; his sons, Ronald Jr., Daniel (Sheila), Thomas and John (Mary Pat); and his brothers, Jim and Jack Schimka. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
