He was predeceased by: his parents, James Champagne and Dolores Champagne. He is survived by: his significant other Lynn Bednarek; his siblings, Dennis Champagne (Alice), Mary Ann Mayers (Tom) and Diane Marzigliano (Mike); and his nieces and nephews, Rene Hite (Cliff), Allie Mayers, John Champagne (Masha), Michael Mayers (Alex), Jack Marzigliano and Christopher Marzigliano.

Up until Covid, Gary was playing drums during the mass at St Raymond Catholic Church.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mercy Home or a charity of choice in his memory.
