He was predeceased by: his parents, David Carey and Elmie Carey (Maki); and his sister Linda. He is survived by: his wife Sandy; his children, Shane Carey (Tracy) and Shannon Potter (Antuan); his grandchildren, David, Jaivia, Jaylyn and Michael; his sisters, Jeanne Densborn (Bruce) and Sandy Woodin (Ted); and his brother-in-law Terry Newtson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 11th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the City Light Church (2325 N 1st St, DeKalb, IL 60115). A memorial service was held on Tuesday, March 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Amvets Hall (421 Oak St, DeKalb, IL 60115). The military honors was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
