It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Lou Schaeffer of DeKalb, Illinois, born in Aurora, Illinois, who passed away on November 30, 2023, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her mother Bessie Nelson (Sexton); her husband Norman Schaeffer; her father Harold Nelson; and her brothers, Wayne and Everett Nelson.

She is survived by: her sons, Brian Schaeffer of DeKalb and Mark Schaeffer (Sue) of Hudson, WI; her grandchildren, Jessica Knutson (Michael), Zachary Schaeffer and Erin Benham (Nathan); and her great grandchildren, Otto and Emmie Knutson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Oak Crest Health Center, Hydrocephalus Association, Meals on Wheels, or Kishwaukee Hospital in care of Anderson Funeral Home PO Box 605, DeKalb, IL 60115.
