He was predeceased by: his wife Bertha Lee Gibbs; his parent Nell Hudson (Gibbs); his siblings, Wilbert Hudson, Doris Farrington and Virginia Ferguson; and his siblings-in-law, Edna Taylor, Evelyn Strong (George), Ottis Carter, Hubert Carter and George Strong.
He is survived by: his sons, Maurice Thomas Gibbs and Marc William Gibbs; his siblings, Jimmy Hudson (Willetta), Thomas Hudson, Mary N. Hudson, Ronnie Hudson (Robin), Willie Gibbs Jr. (Fatman) and Clarence Hudson (Cathy); his grandchildren, Maurice Gibbs II (Leatrice), Zachary McClain, Shateveon Goforth (Kaleb), Keaira Dunlap, Tritavion Houston, Marquise Gibbs, Anthony Matthews and Kiona Gibbs; and his sisters-in-law, Alma Young (Arthur) and Brenda Carter. He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and cherished friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the New Salem Baptist Church (352 W Wood St, Decatur, IL 62521). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
