Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Solon Kanakis (Decatur, Illinois), born in New Orleans, Louisiana, who passed away at the age of 98, on January 30, 2020. He was predeceased by: his parents, Nicholas Kanakis and Vasiliki Kanakis (Velarsios); and his siblings, Piney Kortes, Costas Kanakis, Marie Plunkett and Diane Weinstein.
He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Bardis; his children, Nicholas (Regina), Mark (Debra), Leigh and Catherine (Roland); and his great grandchildren, Nichole (John), Ariann (Denis), Gabriel (Jessie), Benjamin (Nadine), Nathan (Aimee), Allison (Alex), Nicholas, Emily (Steven), Samantha, Charlotte and Eleanor. He is also survived by his step great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Buzz's name to the Town of Newport Recreation Department or the St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Newport.
