He was predeceased by: his parents, David Hopkins and Leota Hopkins (Roderick); his wife Dorothy Eggler; his daughter Sheila Colbert; and his siblings, David Jr., Beverly Taylor and Gwen Buckley.
He is survived by: his children, James Hopkins (Chery), Teri Ducy of Decatur and Mary Kay Ellis (Bobby) of Mt. Zion; his sister Connie Brown (Jerry); and his caregivers, Cheryl Lane, Diane Lane, Brittny Henderson and Cindy Thomas. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services (2801 N Monroe St, Decatur, IL 62526). A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 at the Graceland Cemetery (2091 N Oakland Ave, Decatur, IL 62526).
